About me

Therapy does not have to take a lifetime, but is should be a serious investment in our lives. The work should be a goal-driven partnership between the two people in the room. Often we find new goals and have to reassess priorities, shifting back and forth between concrete issues and more abstract concerns with the consistent, overall goal of reducing emotional pain. If you have a question, please email me at zakmucha@gmail.com or call 773-273-0474 and we can plan for a meeting over the phone or in person. I will be glad to answer any questions regarding fees and insurance.

Zak Mucha, LCSW, is a psychoanalyst in private practice. Previously, he spent seven years working as the supervisor of an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program, providing 24/7 services to persons suffering from severe psychosis, substance abuse issues, and homelessness. Mucha has also worked as a counselor and consultant for U.S. combat veterans undergoing training for digital forensic investigations in child pornography. He is a board member at the Legislative Drafting Institute for Child Protection (www.ldicp.org) in Baton Rouge as well as the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis. He is also the author of Emotional Abuse: A Manual for Self-Defense.
