About me

I believe that we all strive towards health and carry with us a set of strengths. Successful therapy draws upon those strengths and endeavors to build even more. We also all bring with us a lifetime of experiences, positive and negative that shape our view of ourselves and life around us. With you, I explore past and present so we can both gain insight about your patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. In doing so, we can then work to keep what is effective and change what is not. Therapy is often uncomfortable and sometimes painful. However, it is often punctuated with laughter and insight, and pride about changes made. My wish for you is that it is also filled with hope... hope for change, hope for health, and hope for joy and peace. It takes courage to enter into therapy. I would be honored if you chose to collaborate with me on your own personal journey of discovery.

I am a NJ licensed clinical social worker. I am originally from Long Island, NY. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. I received my Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from Fordham University in 1993.

I provide individual therapy to adults. Over the past almost 30 years, I have had experience treating a variety of issues, including depression, substance abuse, anxiety, life transitions, and trauma. I have worked in inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings, and mental health and substance abuse settings, in addition to my private practice. I am very interested in helping young adults navigate the transition to independence while dealing with issues of identity, sexuality, and relationships.

My therapeutic approach blends EMDR with trauma informed, psychodynamic and humanistic approaches. My style is active, relaxed, and collaborative. Your initial goal may be to relieve symptoms of pain and distress and to decrease the frequency of self-defeating behaviors. I will also help you gain insight into how your past, present, and future are connected through your patterns of living in and relating to the world. Ideally, treatment will end with increased joy, confidence, and a greater awareness of and appreciation for yourself.
