About me
Welcome to therapy. Whether it is the first time, or you are a returning customer, it is always a brave act to decide that it is time for change to occur. Change is difficult, even when it is for the better. It is important to know a little bit about the person you plan on taking that journey with, and what tools she is bringing along. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has worked in the mental health field for over 20 very fulfilling years. I have both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Social Work. I was licensed to conduct therapy in 2005. I truly enjoy the work I do, and it shows in the services I provide. Therapy is a partnership between the client and the therapist, and I feel honored when I am allowed to walk the path towards hope, empowerment and healing with another individual.
My skills and experience are varied, including anger management, domestic violence, anxiety, addiction, rape and sexual assault, mood disorders, self-esteem and suicidal thoughts and ideation. I specialize in trauma, PTSD, issues of race and inequality, women’s issues, and sexual orientation. I have experience in many settings, including psychiatric hospitals, clinics, community mental health centers, as well as in private practice. In addition, my experience includes working with youth, families, individuals, couples and group therapy.
Having experienced my own personal journey with childhood trauma and its’ effects, I can attest to the power of therapy. The first step is deciding that you want your life to be different. It is a courageous choice to make, and one that offers a lifetime of hope. Just having that one person that you can talk to, that listens without judgement is powerful and curative. When that person is a skilled and trained professional who has years of experience, it is even better. I am that person, and my only goal is the betterment of you, the individual I am working with.
