About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in service to the core-value of reducing psychological suffering from anxiety, depression, symptoms of trauma, panic, and navigating difficult life-transitions.
I believe the "maps" we make of the world as children are shaped and informed by our earliest available models. These models exist in our homes, our schools, and in our communities, and provide a framework for how we engage in the world and with others. Most of us are provided a "life-starter kit" for how to be a human being in the form of a list of normative milestones, a recognizable path towards education, and, ultimately, a place among the "productive work force". The trouble begins when the "primer-pack" runs out, and the project of keeping life rich and satisfying is left entirely up to you! I want to help you recognize the joy that's possible by choosing to remain deeply interested in very ordinary experiences and how to be in the presence of pain and sadness while knowing them to be the shadow side of, and, therefore, inseparable from joy and celebration. Indeed, there is a much more complex relationship between positive and negative emotions than most people are able to see at a glance.
I use a person-centered, mindfulness-based approach to building a strong therapeutic alliance aimed at identifying core values, choosing realistic and achievable goals, and working as a team for the best possible outcomes. I look forward to helping in any way I can.
