Teru Kanazawa, LCSW

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with many years of experience serving a wide variety of clients specializing in IFS, CBT/DBT, relationship development at all stages, working through trauma and/or insult, with the ultimate goal of "being all you can be."

I have worked for over ten years in Los Angeles as a LCSW and before that New York City as a LMSW in a field that I care about and have passion for. Clients tell me often that I get them and am smart/creative and interactive. The process with me is transparent and I encourage feedback. I assign homework assignments when appropriate and based on the topics and movement that took place during the session. The development of short-term and long-term goals are important as well. I've worked with a very wide variety of clientele and issues across age, sexual orientation/identification, emotional challenges, serious medical conditions, nationality/ethnicity, career development and job satisfaction, retirement, etc. I work with individuals, couples, friends and families. Although I am knowledgeable about psychoanalysis and often employ it in getting to know you, clients are generally satisfied in my focusing on historical information pertinent to the issue being presented. I am a sansei or third generation Japanese American born in Manhattan (never. been to Japan sadly) and from a young age had wide exposure to many having grown up in an integrated neighborhood. I studied Japanese in college but am fluent in my mother tongue, English. In my spare time I write poetry and essays.
