I am an experienced dietitian who is passionate about helping people live healthy and whole lives through a non-diet, person-centered approach focused on helping those with patterns of food or activity disorder, orthorexia, as well as other forms of eating disorders. My approach works best for those in the rehabilitation and relapse stages of eating disorder recovery as well as people stuck in cycles of chronic dieting due to diet culture influences. I accept clients ages 16 and up.
I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Licensed Dietitian, and Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional trained and experienced in person-centered care and behavior and lifestyle change. I use my decades of experience in clinical nutrition and health coaching in an integrative approach to health and well-being to help my clients create lasting transformation. As a non-diet dietitian, I use conventional medicine and nutrition best practices with applied wellness methods without diet prescription to provide tools and coaching strategies.
I started work in a teaching hospital as a clinical dietitian that specialized in end-stage organ disease providing medical nutrition therapy and behavior-centered education to those with diabetes-related complications and kidney and liver failure from a variety of chronic conditions. I established the transplant dietitian position as a specialist in kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant nutrition. From there I moved on to online health coaching where I provided support to those seeking to create healthy lifestyle behavior change by helping new moms, teens, and adults manage medical conditions and maintain health using web-based tools, coaching, and support. In this role, I worked closely with individuals and groups coping with disordered eating, chronic dieting issues, and diabetes-related health concerns. I have also worked in the corporate wellness arena helping truck and bus drivers in the transportation industry. Over the years I have assisted startup companies, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations produce strategies and programs that brought about growth and change. I am also a public speaker and actively volunteer for a variety of organizations including Living in Truth Ministries and Women in Trucking.
In 2019 I founded L I T Wellness Solutions to bring my strengths in nutrition care, wellness integration, health coaching, and strategic program design to people, families, and businesses to help them IGNITE the Change Within. I have been anointed to help people walk away from diet culture by creating cultures that promote lasting health and well-being transformation. My values-based integrative solutions guide individuals and business leaders as they address barriers that are preventing well-being. I have also published a mindfulness-based journaling program entitled, "The Mindful Me Journey: A 40-Day Guided Journal Toward a Healthier Relationship With Food and Exercise" which was an Amazon #1 New Release in 2019 that has now reached international distribution. In June 2021, LIT Wellness Solutions received recognition from the International Forum On Advancements In Healthcare (IFAH) with a Top 50 Healthcare Companies award for our program innovation. IFAH seeks to reimagine the global healthcare landscape by revolutionizing the health and wellness space. They recognize businesses and individuals that are paving the way.
I was an accomplished and acclaimed athlete in both high school and college. I was inducted into the Greenville High School Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of my three-sport high school success which included four appearances at the OHSAA State Track and Field Meet and a high jump record I have held for over four decades. It was the icing on the cake when I was also recognized for success at the collegiate level and inducted into the Mount St. Joseph University Athletic Hall of Fame for volleyball. My college accolades didn't come without some scars as I developed disordered eating and exercise issues as I struggled to reach an imposed weight goal. That disorder and subsequent body image issues developed into orthorexia as I started my career. By the grace of God, I was able to embrace mindful eating and movement techniques that helped me leave the disordered behaviors and chronic dieting behind. I want to help others do the same.
