About me
I have approximately 4 years of counseling experience. I have served as a teacher counselor, clinical therapist, and as an Adult Outpatient Mental Health therapists. My work as a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility manager has instilled in me the principles needed to create an empowering therapeutic environment that acknowledges identities from many cultures and lived experience. I recognize that Christians are people too, but faith without works is dead, especially when it comes to your mental health. After all, Christians are people, too. Whether you're a person of faith or not, you deserve a non-judgmental thought-partner to help you achieve the life and future you are willing to work for. It would be my honor to serve YOU!
Tamatha Borkcom, MA, NCC, LPC-MHSP (pre-licensed) is the Founder of ASAP (Always Serving, Always Praising) Counseling & Services, PLLC. Tamatha received her Master's degree in Professional Counseling in 2020. She is a nationally certified counselor and has been awarded temporary licensure status by the state of Tennessee – granting approval to practice as an LPC-MHSP as she completes her supervision hours. Tamatha sees clients from teenagers to seniors. Tamatha uses person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and cognitive processing therapy to offer clients options for shifting their perspectives and staying encouraged during challenging times. Tamatha welcomes clients who desire to incorporate their faith and religious beliefs into the therapeutic experience.
Listening and learning are the themes that connect Tamatha’s passions: listening to learn from the past and listening to learn more about each other in the present. She is of the opinion that both practices offer the best opportunity to improve society's current challenges and our collective experiences. Tamatha believes that God intentionally ensured that we'd be divinely designed differently for His purpose. She enjoys creating spaces where people can be inspired to explore their unique gifts, and personal wholeness, without judgement or manufactured obstacles. Tamatha’s extensive career and leadership experience, as well as her personal lived experiences, give her significant insight to draw from as she pursues the supernaturally guided mission of removing the deeply rooted negative stereotypes and stigma often associated with mental health.
