About me
I am a licensed professional clinical counselor who is passionate about helping adolescents and adults heal from PTSD, anxiety and depression due to traumatic events or attachment issues in childhood.
I believe all humans have a universal need to feel safe and secure. My work is focused on providing individual treatment for those who are experiencing mental health symptoms as a result of life events that threatened their safety and security. My areas of interests are: relational trauma in families, attachment wounds in childhood, abuse and neglect, as well as trauma that has occurred in adulthood. With compassion and humor, we will explore information about how the brain and body are shaped by trauma, stress and relationships, especially in childhood. A variety of long-term symptoms can result when our safety is violated or threatened, and these experiences create "wounds" that do not often heal themselves. We will work to heal wounded child parts that get often in the way of us operating in our most wise, adult selves in our current roles and relationships .If traditional talk therapy has not worked for you and you feel you need to dig deeper in this way, we can partner to do that together.
I am an EMDRIA-Approved EMDR Therapist, and am trained in PCIT, ABFT and certified in TFCBT. My special interest is in working with other therapists and mental health professionals. I find combining ego state therapy, attachment-based interventions, and EMDR therapy produces significant positive results that talk therapy alone cannot match. Somatic interventions are also used to increase body awareness and work to heal the body discomfort related to trauma and stress. I love what I do, and I think that comes across in my work, especially in my ability to build connections that feel safe. It is my privilege to bear witness to someone healing, and I feel honored to do this work every day.
