About me
I have over 30 years of experience treating depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship, and many other issues. I really enjoy working with adult women who are motivated to live their best, happiest, most authentic life!
I have a “therapist’s toolbox” that includes cognitive behavior therapy, talk therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, EMDR, mindfulness skills, journaling, yoga for mental health, and other techniques that I have learned over many years as a therapist. I usually use a number of different approaches, depending on your goals for therapy and how I can help you get there. We will also identify and reinforce your strengths. So many therapists just focus on the problems or negatives. I don’t do that.
I have my own history of many difficulties in life that have helped me to better understand what people are going through and how to help them.
A session with me might include a brief history from you, an idea of what you want to accomplish in therapy, and what has worked so far and what hasn’t worked. I will listen attentively, never judge you, use psychoeducation to help you with learning and acquiring new skills, assign some practices for you to try before we meet again. Hopefully we can laugh a little too, so the process itself is not so serious and intense!
The keys to healing are : self-awareness, insight, resilience, and the willingness to look at yourself honestly and make some changes that you want to make, with my help.
For my website: please type in the following: holistic-wisdom-and-wellness.weebly.com
The most important thing, I think, is to be KIND to yourself and to start noticing what you say and do that are helpful in your life, and not so helpful.
We will work with your thoughts and actions (cognitive behavior therapy), and any problems you want to address (talk therapy). We might need to work on any traumas that are still bothering you (talk therapy or possibly EMDR). We will work on your mindfulness skills, because being mindful is the only real way to experience joy and happiness and well-being.
I also practice a very collaborative, positive approach. We work together as a team to help you live a life more in line with your values, more fulfilling, with more purpose, joy, and wellbeing in life.
