About me
I am a non-binary, queer, sex positive assoc. therapist who believes that all people can work toward greater wellness through exploration of self and unconditional positive regard.
In my practice, I tend to focus on strengths-based interventions, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral interventions informed by feminist thought and queer theory. As a feminist theorist, I acknowledge the impact of systemic oppression and patriarchal values and how systems of oppression impact everyone who exists within them. Central to the therapeutic process, I value unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and empathy. In order for a person to heal, they must first be heard and seen, and as such, active listening and creating space for expression is very important to me. Questioning previous narratives is also central to my therapeutic orientation, as I seek to help folks develop narratives that are more adaptive and helpful to living well. I hope to become a certified sex therapist to further help clients empower themselves to find what brings them pleasure and euphoria.
I have worked with folks experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, negative thinking, relationship issues, trauma, HIV/AIDS, LGB+ and trans/GNC marginalization, issues with sex, identity exploration, adjustment to life transitions, finding balance, and increasing wellness.
You are good, and I believe that fear often clouds one’s goodness. So often blocks to wellness can be found in the parts of ourselves that we believe we must hide, shame, or disregard. These blocks also cloud our ability to have authentic communication with others and cultivate life-giving community. In this space, you will be challenged to welcome all parts of your identity and to advocate for your whole self to be heard and validated. Thank you for trusting me as you enter this healing process.
