About me
I am an experienced mental health therapist dedicated to helping children and adults heal from traumatic and adverse experiences.
Hi, I’m Sarah. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with approximately 8 years of community mental health experience. I graduated from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise in 2012 with my Bachelors degree in Psychology and obtained my Masters degree from Radford University in 2014. I’m certified by the Virginia Board of Counseling to supervise Residents in Counseling and provide individual supervision on a weekly basis.
I’m a nationally certified therapist in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have an extensive history working with children (ages 4-17) who have witnessed and/or experienced trauma by helping to decrease symptoms associated with Post-Traumatic Stress. I’m also trained in perinatal mental health in order to better help clients navigate their unique paths throughout pregnancy and postpartum – I specifically focus on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (postpartum depression), grief and loss, as well as difficulties adjusting to parenthood. Lastly, I recently went through Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) training to further increase my ability to help clients with stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Ever since I was a child, I always knew that I wanted to help others. Whether that be by providing support or helping to facilitate change, I want you to know that I am here for you. Together we can reach your goals.
I’m currently accepting new clients in-person or via telehealth. I take several insurance plans and also offer options for sliding scale payments.
