Roni McKinley, LMFT

I am a San Francisco based therapist providing psychotherapy, counseling and EMDR for adult individuals and couples. Among others, I work with individuals seeking to overcome internal blocks and improve functioning, create healthier coping strategies, decrease suffering from anxiety and depression, recover from traumatic experiences, grapple with questions about identity and purpose. I work with a diverse group of clients with various cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identifications; in short, all those who are looking to better understand themselves and others, and to increase their capacity to enjoy life.

I support and encourage new perspectives, curiosity about self and others, cultivating resilience. I've helped my clients to address relationship challenges, career stresses or transitions, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, social isolation and the effects of recent and past trauma. Rooted in Psychodynamic fundamentals and Attachment theory, I incorporate ideas from AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), EMDR, Mindfulness and Emotionally Focused Therapy, among others.
My style is informal, warm and growth oriented. I see therapy as an interactive, collaborative process where we explore and develop more effective ways of responding to difficult feelings, situations and people.
