About me
Renata Jamison is the founder and CEO of ANew Genesis Wellness Inc., a behavioral health organization that offers an array of behavioral health services (individual, group, marriage therapy, speaking engagements). Mrs. Jamison is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s degree from the illustrious Historically Black College and University (HBCU), Norfolk State University (NSU). She is currently working on completing her PhD in Social Work (expected in May 2022), from the same HBCU.
Mrs. Jamison enjoys working with individuals who have experienced trauma and is trained in the following evidenced-based modalities: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). However, Mrs. Jamison is also a sister girl from around the way, who believes that the human spirit is resilient and can overcome the utmost of odds. She states “Recovery is possible with one’s dedication to doing the difficult and necessary work to live intentionally.” Her therapeutic approach is diverse and rational, but it is guided by spirituality (her belief in God). Mrs. Jamison states, “While my approach to therapy is quite eclectic, I am primarily a “person-centered” therapist, which means that I encourage one’s autonomy and ability to discern their own path, solutions and directions in life.” Mrs. Jamison identifies her greatest strength as a therapist comes from establishing a quality therapeutic relationship that conveys unconditional positive regard, which allow clients to feel safe and supported.
