About me
Hello! My name is Patricia Ulloa-Green. I am a licensed Marriage Family Therapist. I have been working in the mental health field for the last twenty-four years. I am passionate about helping those who are experiencing adversity to find creative solutions to address their needs. As someone who has overcome my own challenges, and who has had to face life in “life terms”, I am compelled to help others. Trauma is prevalent in this day and age and it is my goal to offer compassion, kindness and empathy as we partner on your journey towards healing. My approach to therapy is very person-centered and customized to your direct issue and struggles.
My approach
The main modalities I use in working with clients is Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I combine these approaches in addition to other modalities based on the unique needs of the individuals I work with.
My focus
I focus my treatment on areas of trauma, complex trauma, addictions, depression, anxiety, ADHD, suicidal thoughts and self-harming behaviors. However, I also have a great amount of experience and training working with family conflict and couples counseling. In my couples work I have treated couples who are experiencing marital conflict as well as premarital counseling. I help couples learn to communicate more effectively.
My communication styles
For each of my clients, I desire to take a relaxed and client lead approach. I do my best to mirror the energy that is brought to each session. I know every day can bring different emotional challenges, so some days might be more intentional about bringing uplifting energy, and other days might be calmer. I try to do my best in making sure my clients always feel they can express their emotional needs to in any session.
My first session with you
Initially I aim to learn more about you by drawing out your reason for engaging in therapy as well as your goals for therapy and what you expect from me as a therapist. It is my intention to create a tranquil therapeutic environment where you feel safe and heard. I will give you time to ask any questions you may have about the process, to ease any nerves you may have about embarking on this journey.
