About me
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and clinical hypnotist with over 20 years experience with trauma and addictions.
Originally from Atlanta, I moved to NYC to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian. I did so for 10 years, and moved to Los Angeles when I heard Hollywood needed more blondes.
As a comic, I only worked about 30 minutes a day, so I was bored and volunteered in my community at a shelter for sexually trafficked teens. I absolutely fell in love with it. This experience was an epiphany; it woke up the healer in me and prompted me to return to graduate school to earn a doctorate in psychology to treat the sexually abused. I could not be more fulfilled.
I went on to write the nonfiction YOU-TURN: CHANGING DIRECTION IN MIDLIFE (2008, Amazon) to inspire others that it is never too late to live a life you love.
I have been honored to be a frequent media guest on a variety of psychological topics, having appeared on Anderson Cooper, The Doctors, Nightline, E!, scores of podcasts and radio shows, and more.
