About me
I am committed to helping teens, adults and parents cope with difficult emotions, behaviors and experiences through a mind/body, trauma informed approach to help improve control, stress reduction and positive coping skills.
As a therapist, I take a laid-back and conversational approach to treatment, meeting you where you are at in your healing journey. I consider the client-therapist relationship a central component of our work together and you'll find that I make it a priority to develop a safe, trusting environment where you can feel at ease to explore your emotions, vulnerabilities and experiences with me. I show up as my authentic self with the people I work with, leaning on compassion, acceptance, and humor to tackle the difficult aspects of your experiences. Emotions can be intense and I’m not afraid to use the occasional swear word to emphasize the depth of what you are going through. In our sessions, there are no judgements- just an open and empathetic space to help support you as we navigate your journey.
During my time as a therapist, I have developed a passion for supporting individuals who are navigating challenging relationships, unresolved trauma or grief, parenting and anxiety. I work with people to help them gain insight into how past experiences may be impacting their daily lives, providing a safe, supportive space to process and repair those negative experiences. I address areas of communication, attachment style, nervous system regulation and boundary setting, working with my clients to empower them to use their skills to overcome difficult situations, and enhance positive coping skills for long-term resiliency.
As a somatic based therapist, I am extensively trained in the ways that trauma and stress impact our bodies, behaviors, thoughts and relationships and I utilize this area of therapy to equip clients with the tools to understand, navigate and work with their nervous system for increased regulation and emotional balance. Together we gently explore the sensations and emotions stored within your body, increasing your ability to access emotion regulation and self-understanding. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address worry thoughts, negative self-talk and unhealthy thought patterns and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to improve interpersonal skills, emotion regulation and enhanced coping skills.
When I am not providing therapy, you can usually find me doing something outdoors, especially in the hot summer months! I have 2 kids that keep me busy, and a growing collection of pets (somebody stop me).My self-care essentials are immersing myself in a good book or TV series, dancing around to loud music in the kitchen, or jumping on the bike for a good sweat. I value humor, red wine, sarcasm, and board games and strongly believe in the power of a 70's music playlist.
