About me
I am an experienced psychologist working with older adolescents and adults dealing with various emotional distresses, including mood disorders (anxiety/depression), trauma and abuse, academic struggles, relationship distress, grief and loss, self-worth concerns, and psychological assessment needs.
Life brings struggles to us all at times; I love helping people move beyond these hard times and toward a brighter future. I feel blessed by God to do this work and strive to be an understanding and nonjudgmental companion in these times. Many clients over the years have expressed this as their experience. Over the years, working in university settings and private practice, I have helped hundreds of people to cope with all kinds of emotional and psychological problems, which gives me great hope for you in this time of difficulty.
As a doctoral-level psychologist, I see people as complex and include biological, psychological, social, spiritual, and cultural aspects in understanding the present so I can offer new perspectives toward change. This is based in a mutually respectful and trusting, collaborative relationship. Over the years, I have become proficient in various empirically based therapies, including CBT*, DBT*, EMDR*, CPT*, IFS*, and IPT*, which give myriad ways to individually tailor support and challenge in the therapy journey. When requested, I am happy to discuss spiritual strengths and questions that pertain to presenting concerns. My reward in this whole process is to see you grow in peace, health, and joy.
*CBT = Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; DBT=Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; EMDR=Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming; CPT=Cognitive Processing Therapy; IFS= Internal Family Systems; IPT= Interpersonal Therapy
