About me

I believe my role as a therapist is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can talk over your difficulties, and I in turn provide perspective, insight, and creative problem-solving strategies. With over 25 years of experience and continuing post-doctoral training, I have many therapeutic approaches available. Past clients have told me that they appreciate my ability to listen reflectively but still provide active feedback and ideas that allow them to see a new angle on their problems and begin to change. I can be most helpful with relationship issues and with anxiety and depression. I have particular specialties in couples therapy and in helping women with mid-life transition issues.

First, I listen carefully. I generally do a one to two session evaluation, followed by feedback on my recommended approach. Then you have the opportunity to decide if this is something you want to start and will also have a sense of whether you feel comfortable talking with me. We will also discuss how to know when the work is completed.

For individuals, I use a blend of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral techniques, tailored to the issues you wish to explore. With couples, I stress improving communication styles and ways to deepen emotional intimacy. I have Level 2 Gottman certification, certification in Relational Couples Therapy and advanced-level Emotionally Focused Therapy certification. Infidelity and recovery from it are specialties. Same gender couples are welcome.
