About me
Hi! I’m Lauren! Congratulations on prioritizing you, on choosing to be vulnerable and pursuing mental wellness. I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Addiction Counseling, and am currently a SUDA within the state of Idaho. My degree is specialized in addiction, but I am also trained in partnering in care with clients struggling with: anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, eating disorders and grief.
I approach counseling from a client centered approach, I view therapy as holy ground, and it is my honor to walk through challenges along side my clients. I truly believe recovery from life’s hurts is possible. I have a heart for teenage clients, and the unique challenges they face. In particular in terms of addiction counseling, I promote vulnerability, honesty, hope, community support from a harm reductionist perspective. I provide a safe space for people of varying faiths, LGBTQIA, and aim to meet clients of differing cultures on their level. I am happy to work with clients where English is a second language, and I speak conversational Spanish.
The therapeutic perspectives I draw from are those of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I believe every person is an individual and thus requires an individualized approach. I believe in the power of humor, snacks, and vulnerability. I am nerdily interested in: neuro-psychology, somatic release of trauma, and Polyvagal therapy.
In my free time, I love spending time with my three young children. I LOVE DOGS, and have my beloved rescue, Nelson. The perfect day for me looks like a giant cup of coffee, followed by a long run and a day spent curled up with a book! I am a huge foodie and I love Mexican food!
I currently offer care to Medicaid clients and varying insurances. I am passionate about costs or insurance not being a hang up to receiving quality care.
I’d love to talk with you!
