About me
Laura is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been working with adolescents and young adults since 1994. She has spent 25 years as a school counselor in Connecticut and is experienced helping adolescents and young adults manage school issues, peer problems, anxiety, and depression. Laura has a special interest in ADHD and the often accompanying executive dysfunction and other complications.
As a therapist, Laura employs an eclectic approach, as every person and situation is unique; it is important to tailor the approach to each person's individual needs. Trained in psychodynamic therapy, which seeks to understand what motivates behavior, Laura believes that the most important aspect of treatment is to create a relationship in which the client can feel understood in a non-judgmental, safe, compassionate and supportive environment. Then, Laura and her client work collaboratively toward resolution and might employ strategies of supportive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, or mindfulness.
