About me

Offering support to women of all ages and stages through life's most difficult moments.

Psychologist Victor Yalom uses this vivid and captivating image of therapy, given to him by his own mentor, Jim Bugental. Victor describes a tightrope walker balanced on a wire, suspended between two skyscrapers. The walker carefully steps out over the expanse, gripping the long beam on his shoulders. He trusts it to give him support, as it has many times before.

Suddenly, a gust of wind throws him off balance and he begins to fall. Victor describes this man, in his terror clutching onto the beam, which on previous occasions had saved his life and had been "his trusted friend". In that moment, what he needed to do was to release his grasp of the bean on grab hold of the wire, before it was too late. Instead, he clung to what was no longer working, falling to his death.

This is a perfect example of what often initially brings my clients into therapy. The skills they learned to survive in childhood, and adulthood, are no longer working and they find themselves falling. I see my role as both a teacher and an explorer: teaching basic skills of emotional regulation and self-care (learning the skills to stay on the wire!), and exploring the past with you to heal old wounds that are inhibiting you from living a fulfilled life.

Therapy Approach:
I use a psychodynamic approach and incorporate techniques from Internal Family Systems, Gottman, and EFT ("client-centered" approaches based in attachment theory and neurobiology). I use these approaches, but also tend to give practical "homework" as well, to get the most out of our time together.

How many sessions?
Therapy can last as little as 10-20 weekly sessions, though many clients come in wanting to work on something a bit deeper and prefer to continue to engage in therapy indefinitely. This is something we can discuss after your initial session. You may find your goals change over time and that our focus may shift as you develop, shifting from immediate needs to deeper life issues.

What are your fees?
$175 for 45min for weekly or bi-weekly individual sessions.

Do you accept insurance?
I am not contracted with insurance companies for several reasons. One reason being it allows me greater freedom, rather than working within the confines dictated by third-party payers. This ensures that you are offered the best quality service possible. You may still be eligible for direct reimbursement from your insurance company for the cost of therapy, by submitting a form that I can provide to you. Let me know if this is something you are interested in, and we can explore this option.

Scheduling availability:
*My specific availability may vary, depending on current clients.

Friday: 8am-3pm
