About me
I am a trauma therapist with specialized training in helping children and adults cope with complex trauma and dissociation.
If you or your child struggle with trauma or dissociation, you might feel very alone. When the world feels like too much and people can feel unsafe, it's hard to share what's inside. Especially if your inner world also feels like too much. If it's chaotic, scary, or numb inside, figuring out who you are, what you want, and what's safe can get confusing. It's hard to feel unsure what you need and how to get it! I see it as my job to help you or you and your child sort through and make sense of the conflict and overwhelm, access strengths, and develop safe ways to relate to what's inside and what's outside, so you feel more stable and connected.
We'll start by building a therapy relationship where you can feel safe enough to explore even the most sensitive and vulnerable parts of you, including those that have been rejected or harmed in the past. Then the patterns and fears under the surface that keep you shut down, ashamed, scared, or isolated will begin to emerge, and we can listen to and heal them together.
If you’re seeking therapy for your child, it may be because they are having trouble managing their feelings, communicating their needs, or they may be using challenging behaviors that trouble you or or your child. Whatever they're going through, we'll think through together what's happening for your child, and your child and I will use the language of play to help them understand and express their feelings and experiences.
Whether it's you or your child who is struggling, I draw on my intensive post-grad training in psychoanalytic therapy and my certifications in treating trauma and dissociation, as well as decades of experience working with children, to help me offer the best evidence-based care and work with you (or you and your child) to find and listen to the underlying pain and tap inner strengths.
