About me
My clients like me because I don't just sit there and say, "Oh. Uh-huh. How does that make you feel?"
I consider myself to be a cognitive therapist and a trauma therapist. Our thoughts, our beliefs, and even our inner dialogue are more important than our emotions. I love psycholinguistics and I'll probably call you out on some of the words that you're telling yourself.
My catchphrase is: "People don't come to counseling because they just wont the lottery." Something unfortunate happened in your life, and you've been trying to make sense and live with it ever since. I get it! That's fine! That's why you're having your current struggles and that's what you need to address in counseling.
As an LPC in PA, and LPCC in Ohio, I have 15 years of experience in helping children, teens, adults, and families. I've worked in residential, intensive outpatient, school, in-home, community, and now, private practice settings. I help my clients address: stress, addictions, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, anger, grief, loss, life changes, trauma, childhood/family trauma, and self confidence. I also help men build confidence, masculinity, and self-worth.
I am supportive, engaging, and accepting, and will challenge you when needed. It's important to incorporate all five senses, cognitive processes, verbal and self-talk aspects, spirituality, physical release, and relationships. I'll work with you to identify problems, strengths, and weaknesses, overcome obstacles, and help you to monitor and manage your success on your own. We're on this journey together, and I'll assist you in managing the messy times. But, sometimes we just have to breathe deep and laugh at how weird life can be!
I have advanced training in CBT, EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing.
