About me

Hi, I’m Dr. Katherine Jones, a Minnesota-based Naturopathic Doctor and Licensed Professional Counselor who focuses on holistic medicine and individual counseling.

Are you a young adult woman grappling with questions about your identity, and the meaning of life, or experiencing stress and burnout? Perhaps you're going through a quarter-life crisis. Or maybe you are feeling overwhelmed by navigating through major life changes such as graduating from college, moving to a new city, managing changing relationships, or starting a new job. You may have also received a recent ADHD diagnosis, and it turns out that all those years of suffering from irritability, poor concentration, and indecision weren't just depression. Whether anxiety, life transitions, ADHD, depression, or all of the above are getting in the way of you feeling healthy, empowered, and resilient, therapy can help you live a more balanced life.

I help Millenial and Gen Z women regain their vitality, peace of mind, and overall health. Millennials, individuals born between 1981 and 1996, and Gen Z, individuals born between 1997 and 2012, face unique challenges in navigating adulthood. I am a fellow millennial and understand the complexities of this journey. In my role as a therapist, I listen without judgment and act as an advocate and guide as we collaboratively come up with solutions to what is bothering you. Life can be a complex, demanding, and often overwhelming journey. It's common for people to feel like they've lost touch with their best selves, wrestling with persistent stress, doubt, or disempowerment. When we start our work together, we'll holistically explore how you got to this point in your life.

In sessions, I’ll provide you with tools and philosophies to safely explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so you can keep doing what works and let go of what is no longer serving you. You’ll walk away from our time together being a more vital and fulfilled version of yourself.

Here's the thing: I’m human too, and I “get it”. The healing journey can be tough.

I am a dedicated advocate and compassionate practitioner, which means that I integrate my education with my lived experiences and bring my authentic self to client encounters. I am a millennial, mixed race, secular humanist, first-generation United States-born woman who has lived a life that includes loss, trauma, anxiety, health issues, confusion, and struggle. Through my own healing journey and self-discovery, I've earned wisdom through life's challenges and have cultivated the ability to provide a gentle refuge for those who are also struggling.

My approach to therapy is grounded in Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Adlerian Therapy. This means that my approach is person-centered, humanistic, non-pathologizing, non-judgmental, and focused on personal growth. We are not focused on your diagnosis, but rather on collaboratively problem-solving issues or challenges you might be facing. We’ll develop ways we can use your strengths to help address your concerns instead of “fixing” who you are. You are not “broken”. I also often utilize evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioral techniques to help clients identify the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. These techniques can be helpful for challenging thought patterns and negative beliefs that no longer serve you. CBT can also be very practical, allowing us to remain focused in sessions and providing strategies or homework between sessions so that you can get the most out of therapy. Additionally, I often integrate Adlerian Therapy (AKA Individual Psychology) into my work with clients. Adlerian Therapy is a goal-oriented, holistic, and psychodynamic therapy based on the theories of Alfred Adler. Adlerian Psychology views discouragement and lack of community feeling as the underlying cause of most faulty beliefs and goals of misbehavior, which lead to mental health pathology. From an Adlerian view, the “antidote” to this is encouragement, Gemeinschaftsgefühl (i.e., social interest/community feeling), and a mutually respectful therapeutic relationship.

I’ve heard my clients say that they like working with me because I’m inviting, thorough, non-judgmental, and direct. I show up as my real, funny, nerdy, self and work hard to make sure that I am meeting you where you are at so that you can get what you want out of our time together. This means that I am an active participant in your care and hope that you will be too.

In my free time, I enjoy cuddling with my two cats, playing tabletop games, a nice latte with quality espresso, getting out in nature, playing video games, doing crosswords with my hubby, cooking new recipes, and tending to my garden and houseplant collection.

If you are ready to take the next step, I invite you to contact me. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can get a feel for whether I am a good fit for your unique needs.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor working towards my Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor credential under the supervision of Beth McNally, MA, LPCC at Enliven Psychotherapy.
