About me
I am a licensed mental health counselor who values the body-mind-spirit connection. I love to assist individuals work through past traumas become more whole and integrated within themselves by using the tools I have been given through my background in holistic medicine, body awareness and mental health.
I bring an integrative and somatic style to my practice as a mental health counselor. Talk therapy is very helpful and even more so when combined with awareness of our body and the somatic information it is giving us when we tune in to listen. I find this helps us learn to align body, mind and soul which can allow us to live more purposefully and connected. It supports more meaningful relationships with those we love, too.
I am a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional (CIMHP) in addition to my back ground as a yoga teacher and ayurvedic medical practitioner. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and I am acutely aware of how past traumas affect the body and keep us locked into patterns that may not be supportive to the goals we are trying to achieve in life. This can present itself in overwhelming and difficult emotions, self-sabotaging thoughts, behaviors that leave us feeling embarrassed or ashamed and difficult interpersonal relationships. Sometimes we need help to unwind these patterns and gain a deeper and more compassionate view of our life, our experiences and learn tools to move forward in new ways.
If you have been experiencing anxiety, overwhelming stress, depression, unexplained anger, difficulty in relationships or are dealing with the after effects of trauma, I hope you will contact me. I will help you work through these issues, learn new coping skills, new ways to ground and support your body, and support you as you build healthy routines to feel more aligned on your journey through this life. I also use the astrological system of India, called Jyotish, to help us understand some of the deeper karmic issues we carry and are here to work on.
I am experienced in 12-step programs and issues with substance abuse, chronic relapsing, codependency, boundary setting, issues of loss and letting go, and dealing with chronic illness. This life is not easy, especially in our current world, and we can all benefit from some extra support to help us at times. I offer a free 15-minute visit if you want to meet and see if we are a good fit to work together, please contact me.
