About me
I am a Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapist who brings steady, attuned, responsive support to individuals, couples, and adolescents.
The challenges of life offer us incredible opportunities for healing and growth. Julie creates a safe space of attuned therapeutic support to explore the depths of unresolved places. Julie is a passionate learner and teacher, focusing on empowering clients with deeper understanding to live a vibrant and fulfilling life with meaningful interpersonal relationships.
As an adoptive parent who is familiar with adoption trauma, grief, and loss, Julie is able to empathically come alongside adoptive families and adoptees with steadfast support and compassionate care. Her heart was moved for adoption in 2004 and she has been leading mission teams to China to serve in orphan care ever since.
Her background in education and passion for life-long learning offers clients a relational approach to psychoeducation and neuroscience. As a pastor’s wife and mother of four children, from adolescents to young adults, and an adoptive mom, she is able to offer insight and help from both her life experience and professional training. For those who have been wounded by the church, Julie creates a safe space where they can explore religious and spiritual abuse and trauma without judgment.
Julie is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with advanced trauma training in Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®). Julie is a Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapist (DARTT) with extensive training in the work of Pia Mellody. Healing Our Core Issues supports clients in a psychodynamic counseling approach that includes family of origin work, attachment theory, mindfulness, and somatic experience.
Julie is Trained in EMDR Therapy, a modality used specifically for healing unprocessed trauma in the autonomic nervous system. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing has been extensively research based and proven effective in treating trauma for over thirty years.
