I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Currently I specialize in working with couples. Historically I've specialized in working with adolescents/young adults and their families.
I was born on O’ahu, Hawai'i and raised on the Mainland. Growing up as a third culture kid (belonging neither to Hawai'i nor to the Mainland) I always felt on the fringe of groups. This perspective taught me to be a good observer. Add to that some childhood challenges, lots of moving around the country due to lots of family dysfunction, and a solid education in graduate school and at home with my wife of 20 years, and you have the makings of decent LMFT. I work really well with just about everyone and on issues related to life transitions, particularly in marriages and families. I also seem to work well with middle-aged women seeking to better understand themselves and find their voices.
When I'm not practicing, I share time with my wife, our daughter, and our two cats. I also surf nearly daily in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawai’i, where I live, work, and play.
