About me
I am a holistic, integrative trauma-focused psychotherapist who is dedicated to helping adults get to the root cause of their dysregulation, freeing them up to experience life in a more present way.
Get to the root cause. Rewire your brain. Transform your life.
Finding a good therapist is no easy task, and the process can be overwhelming. But you should know that by being here you've taken an important step forward in beginning to heal your pain and resolve your personal struggles. Letting yourself be vulnerable with a stranger is scary, and I commend you for taking the first step in finding someone who will listen, hold space for you, and help you to navigate a new, more positive way forward.
Drawing from trauma-focused interventions, particularly EMDR, I use an integrative approach to understand your life experiences and how they have led to your feeling disconnected, unhappy, anxious, and/or depressed, and ultimately seeking therapy.
I want you to know that I am deeply passionate about what I do. It's a privilege to sit in a room with another human being and have them share with you their pain, their joy, their anxiety, their pride, their sorrow, their successes. I view the therapy room as a sacred space where one can truly be themselves with no judgement, no criticism, only genuineness, empathy, compassion, and understanding.
It is my job to start where you are at, get to know your story, understand your perspective, and guide you with your best interest in mind. I approach therapy with optimism and hope. I believe that insight alone does not change a person's behavior. The way that a person thinks and feels influences everything in a person's life. Thoughts and beliefs create your life. I challenge my clients to open themselves up to change and personal growth by working together to find the limiting beliefs that are steering the ship of their subconscious mind.
I have worked as a psychotherapist for over 25 years. I began my career working with children and families in therapeutic foster care providing therapy, as well as teaching and certifying prospective foster parents. After becoming a licensed clinical social worker, I moved into academia where I work full-time while maintaining a private practice with adults. I have dedicated my career to researching, teaching, and helping others in the areas of integrative, holistic healing and mental health. I am a university professor that has developed, and currently teaches, curricula in neuroscience and clinical practice, as well as mind and body approaches that support neuroplastic changes of the brain. I am trained in EMDR, clinical hypnosis, past life regression therapy, MBSR, HeartMath, Neurofeedback, and integrative medicine and nutrition, and I integrate this knowledge into my clinical work, teaching, research, and consultation.
Imagine what your life would be like today if a highly skilled, compassionate, and genuine psychotherapist had worked with you a year ago... It may be time for a change.
Let's connect. I hope you will find that we make a good fit, and I look forward to hearing from you.
