About me
I'm a Resident in Counseling with experience as a school counselor and in-home therapist. I am honored to work with both older children, adults and parents with anxiety, trauma and other mental health concerns.
Whether this is your first time in therapy or you're familiar with the process, I would be honored to support you in bringing deeper fulfillment and ease to your life. I am happy to explore what is holding you back from finding inner peace, and can support you with symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief, overwhelm or disorganization. I especially love working with people who are going through transitional times and the difficulties of change. I believe in helping you to look at problems from different perspectives. I have a special interest in supporting you in making sense of family dynamics, exploring identity questions, and confronting social issues, including social media use and bullying. I often work with clients to develop goals surrounding well-being.
I have a Masters in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and have worked over the last decade as an in-home family systems counselor and a public school counselor at the middle and high school levels. Some of my favorite approaches include teaching everyday mindfulness techniques and breaking down challenges with organization, work-life balance and other life stressors. In addition, I enjoy working with folks who are neurodivergent, ADHD, LGBTQ+, adolescents, and parents. I am a strong advocate for parents and families who are navigating the complexities of community and school services.
I strive to always be genuine and create an atmosphere where clients can feel comfortable and quickly at ease. In session, I often bring together both practicality and humor. I believe all this leads to a strong rapport with a high level of trust and understanding. During sessions, we will focus on building a support network and discovering strengths and personal insights while practicing autonomy and self-advocacy skills. I am well versed in cognitive and solution-focused techniques, and am currently studying and developing somatic and experiential skills.
When I’m not counseling, I am keeping up with my vegetable garden, spending time with my family, and seeing live comedy and music. I also love brunch, the Buffalo Bills, and being a part of the local theater community.
