About me
As a therapist for caregivers, my goal is to help you take better care of yourself. You might be a physician, a teacher, an adult child caring for aging parents, or any other professional or family caregiver. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, life transitions, caregiving stress, or just feeling “stuck,” therapy can help.
You spend so much energy taking care of others, it's hard to think about making time for yourself. Feeling anxious or burned out has started to feel like your "normal" instead of just a bad day. You feel sad or angry sometimes, even lashing out at loved ones, and you're not sure why. Maybe work has started to feel like a chore, and you experience less compassion for co-workers and clients. You used to find joy in your work and in your relationships, but now you feel overwhelmed with the demands on your time. It's harder to connect with the parts of life that used to be meaningful, and that can feel really lonely.
Everyone has a story to tell, and I want to hear it. However, successful therapy doesn’t stop with the story. You’re navigating challenging times, and you want strategies to help you cope more effectively. This means working toward better solutions both in sessions and between sessions. If you’re motivated to grow and want to be supported and challenged while you make positive changes, we might be a good fit. I know the unique challenges and losses caregivers face and am ready to work with you.
Having worked in healthcare systems for many years, I also understand what it’s like to be a healthcare worker. It’s a rewarding but challenging path at the best of times, and these are especially challenging times. Years of providing support for healthcare workers has taught me some of the individual and systemic issues that are likely to trip us up in our work. I’m ready to talk about ethical dilemmas and moral distress, frustrating systems, shared trauma, grief, burnout, and anything else you bring to the table. I will bring you evidence-based strategies for dealing with stress, anxiety, and perfectionism as well as the experience of navigating my own journey.
I know this isn't easy, and taking care of yourself doesn't always come naturally. Let’s work together to help you live and work more effectively. Therapy will help you talk through your struggles, remember your strengths, and find strategies to cope with transitions, loss, stress, burnout, and anxiety. You really can feel better, and you don't have to do this alone.
