About me
She is passionate about working with children, adolescents, adults and families. Using a strength-based approach, Ellie supports and empowers her clients in their self-discovery journey. She works collaboratively to help clients achieve their potential by creating a safe space where they can develop effective ways of coping and hone their decision-making skills.
Ellie particularly enjoys working with children, utilizing play-based therapies such as Child-Centered Play therapy, Child-Parent Relationship therapy, and Theraplay. Ellie truly believes that play helps children understand their feelings and express themselves using the language they know best.
She has a special interest in providing therapy to adults and children suffering from anxiety, phobias, poor frustration tolerance, ADHD, relational difficulties and OCD. She also has experience helping adults struggling with navigating life changes or interpersonal conflicts as well as family-based issues, parenting, and parenting during and after divorce.
Ellie also works with individuals navigating the tender lines of acculturation and multicultural identity and belonging. She is bilingual in English and Farsi.
Ellie has a Master of Science in Professional Counseling degree and is working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist. Professional Counseling is a second career for her. While Ellie comes from a corporate environment, counseling and helping others have long been her passion and she fully understands the nuances of navigating coparenting of three children while working. Ellie has always welcomed life’s surprises and challenges and believes that the resulting myriad of experiences, whether it’s chronic illness or the beauty and challenges of a blended family, have helped her better identify with others. Because of her own personal journey, Ellie appreciates how families can be formed in so many different ways: birth, adoption and marriage and she finds the joys and struggles of her journey invaluable in her therapeutic approach.
