About me
Doris Dodson (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who uses a strengths-based approach to treat clients dealing with depression, anxiety, life transitions, adoption, grief/loss, and relationship issues. She believes clients are the experts on themselves and she has worked collaboratively with children, adolescents, and adults to overcome challenges. Doris has a wide range of experience including teaching social work students in higher education, leading anger management and batterers intervention groups, and training mental health clinicians in providing therapeutic services to clients impacted by foster care and adoption. Doris completed her Master of Social Work with a mental health concentration from Virginia Commonwealth University. Doris is warm, accepting, and compassionate and cares deeply about her clients. She uses an eclectic/integrated and holistic approach, incorporating mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and expressive arts.
