About me

I am an experienced psychotherapist practicing for over 26 years with adolescents and adults. I am confident that healing takes places through the therapeutic relationship and the fit between client and therapist. I help those coping with life stressors, grief, anxiety and depression, and more...

* In-person sessions are now available and preferable. Due to COVID-19 social distancing and quarantining guidelines, video therapy is also available via a secure platform. Feel free to contact me for further information.

I work with adults and adolescents struggling with the pain and challenges of the stressors that come with life. A safe space and warm environment is provided, which will allow you to engage with me in your process of change.

My treatment approach is based on your individual needs, concentrating in psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy. However, going beyond technique and theory is what makes therapy work – it’s the realm of the trusting relationship: the ongoing human-to-human connection that provides the foundation for change. Change can be difficult, whether positive or negative, and therapy invites you to sit with your emotions and tackle the obstacles that may be hindering your growth.

I use an integrative approach to understand your life experiences and how they are affecting your present functioning. Without a therapeutic relationship, there is no therapy. I combine empathy with humor to help you feel comfortable and bring a humanistic approach into the session.

I am also a Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC) in the state of New York. You as a First Responder - police, fire, EMS, 911 dispatch - experience on-the-job trauma that sticks with you throughout, and after, your career. Trauma and the continuous negativity experienced in these roles may include you seeing violence, abuse and neglect. Responding to accidents, fire, crimes, and disasters, over and over again, can change your world view, as well as the person you are.
I have specialized knowledge of the First Responder and Law Enforcement Officer culture, special mental health needs and expectations. I am aware that understanding of your particular profession is key to "getting you." Confidentiality and trust is of the utmost priority for responders who come from a culture that does not always support the need for help.
