What was your path to becoming a therapist?
In life, the universe has a way of throwing us curveballs, and my journey was just like that! My great plan was to become a nurse who could provide quality healthcare to ailing people. Then, sad news: My grandmother (my hero) was diagnosed with major depressive disorder, and it was severe. She was catatonic and her depression was so bad that she was hospitalized. It was medication-resistant and nothing seemed to help her. It was a very painful and challenging time for my grandma and my whole family and I was determined to learn all I could about depression so that I could support and help her. That was the start of my new journey; I became passionate about the mental health field and was compelled to do all I could to help people who, like my grandma, so desperately needed people to care, to fight to decrease the stigma, and to create easier access to treatment.
