About me
Not your typical male therapist. Casual, Friendly, Relaxed, and easy to talk to, ready to help you on your journey wherever you need to go.
I care about the relationship that I build with each client. Each relationship is unique, and I treat it as such. I am a fellow human alongside my clients. I want my clients to feel my humanity so they can feel the acceptance and warmth that I strive to provide and know that they are not alone in their suffering. I use various therapeutic approaches such as EMDR, CBT, and Emotion Focused Therapy to help my clients achieve the goals they designate in therapy. I hope that we can develop a relationship of mutual trust and respect and that we can be honest in our sessions in order to gain the most of our work together. I am originally from Provo, Utah. Due to growing up in Utah, I am very familiar with and fluent in "Utah Culture". I went back east to attend NYU for graduate school. During my time in NYC, I learned so much about the cultures of the world while also better understanding just how unique Utah is and can be. I love to travel when I can, I have touched 4 different countries (Iceland, England, Germany, and India) while spending time specifically in 2 (England & India). Italy was next on my list and then Covid happened so that opportunity has yet to return. I am married and we have two Labradoodles named Hades & Persephone.
What can you expect in a typical therapy session with me? You can expect that I am on time and will end sessions on time to provide punctual professional service to you and all my other clients. You can expect that I am ready to listen and dive into any issues or things you want to discuss with my full undivided attention. You can expect that sometimes I may have questions and sometimes I may ask to clarify something, other times I won't have anything to say as I feel listening to understand is the top priority. You can expect that I will always be open to feedback and if you want something specifically from me such as my opinion or you have a question for me please bring these up and I will do my best to help and provide the best information available to you & me at that time. Above all, you can expect a present, responsive, compassionate human (with all his flaws too) eager to support, cheerlead, and hold space for you and anything you bring into the office. I don't believe in TMI, I welcome any and all information if it will help me understand you and the problem better. There is no need to be ashamed or embarrassed in my office, every human deserves respect and dignity and I will always choose these approaches no matter the topics being discussed.
I would encourage you to ask yourself these questions and be prepared to discuss them during our sessions:
What do I want from this experience? (therapy overall and in each session)
How will I know when I am ready to be done with therapy?
What will I be better able to do as a result of therapy? or what will I be able to do that I couldn't before therapy?
What do I imagine my life looking and or feeling like after completing therapy or getting to a place I am comfortable without therapy for a while?
I consider myself a very passionate healer. Clients who have worked with me in the past have told me I am a different kind of therapist and that they feel heard and seen. I would love to meet with you and hear your unique story. From there we can determine if we are a good therapeutic match. I offer a free 15min phone consultation where you and I can speak, you can ask any questions and we can get a sense of one another to see if we would like to schedule an appointment. This will hopefully help you feel like you are wasting less time and especially money if you are not sure you want to work with me. I look forward to hearing from you!
