Bobbi Ebsen, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California, New York & Michigan. I graduated with my MSW from the University of Michigan (2003). I completed my EMDR training from the gold standard of training at the EMDR Institute in Watsonville, California. I am a Wilderness First Responder, and lead forest therapy hikes on the weekend. I am a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Dominican Republic 95-98), a Returned Crisis Corps Volunteer (Sri Lanka summer of 2006), a Teacher Certified Yoga Instructor (Sivananda Yoga Ashram 2005), completed in-depth meditation training – 1 ½ years of training toward a Buddhist priest program while living in a Buddhist temple for 3+ years (Zen Buddhist Temple in Ann Arbor, Michigan).

Personally, my childhood was spent growing up on a farm in a poor, alcoholic, violent, uneducated family system on the plains of Nebraska. I attended one of the last remaining “one room schools” in our country. The education system was terrible, and I didn’t know who Martin Luther King was when I entered college in 1989. I had a lot of catching up to do. I worked hard and graduated with Honors with a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1994.

At 18 yo, I discovered the effectiveness of psychotherapy, and I thought, if I could help one person the way my therapist had helped me as a teenager, my life would be worth living. Now I have 20+ years as a clinician. I have worked in various counseling settings, with people from diverse backgrounds with all kinds of struggles. My struggles and experiences have really made me the powerful therapist I am today.
