About me
Mental health provider and advocate for improving mental health of parents during pregnancy/postpartum and those experiencing grief/loss.
With over 10 years experience in the field I recently decided to start my own practice focusing on the specialities I am most passionate about.
I have worked with grief/loss for many years and find it so helpful for people to feel supported during such a difficult time. When you're experiencing grief it can be very frustrating to hear those cliche statements many people often quote in efforts to support you when it actually can be more painful. Hearing things like "they wouldn't want you to be sad", "think about all the wonderful things in your life". As a provider that specializes in grief I am trained and well experienced in how to hold emotional space for someone in that delicate place. You will have a space to process your grief that won't feel rushed or dismissed.
I am also very passionate about working with moms and dads during pregnancy and up to a year postpartum. Experiencing pregnancy and all the changes that begin to happen can be difficult to emotionally navigate. It can be very proactive and preventative to begin working with a therapist during this time to improve the adjustment period with postpartum. This is a time period that brings about such significant change in someone's life in a fairly quick amount of time. I am very involved in this population and am well versed in the emotional needs of this population. I am also co founder of a local non profit Postpartum Resource Center of the Triad. My colleagues and I are focused on improving mental health of parents during this time, reducing the stigma associated, and increasing awareness within the community among providers and supporters as well.
I am also beginning training in specializing in pregnancy and infant loss. Experiencing the loss of a pregnancy or infant can be extremely devastating and difficult to find the most helpful support. It can often be a silent loss and feel very misunderstood by others when you need support the most
I really enjoy the work I do and my private practice allows me to provide high quality and refreshing care to those looking for support with these particular needs.
