About me
SWFL Counseling equips our clients to live purposeful and meaningful lives by offering authentic, valuable, and comfortable therapy provided by a team of independent counselors.
We believe in treating the whole person, which leads to healthy interactions and communication with others. We believe people have the ability to reach their full potential with a bit of hard work and direction. Emotionally. Spiritually. Relationally.
Hi! I'm Bethaney.
The truth is, I've been where you are. For real! But I am a much better version of myself now.
I remember having to read this silly book during my college senior year internship course called Quarterlife Crisis: The Unique Challenges of Life in Your Twenties. All I could think about when I read it was: what the hell does this have to do with me?!
I was 22, about to graduate college, and had it ALL figured out…
Until I didn’t.
Fast-forward two years, a move from the Midwest to Fort Myers, a failed relationship, and a dead-end job. Now I was 24. I hated my job. My social life was non-existent. I was dating men who were completely wrong for me. Oh, and did I mention I lived with my parents? I was depressed and so hopeless that my life could be what I dreamed for myself that day so very long ago. Basically, I lost myself. I didn't like the person I had become. And the worst part? I had no idea how to "fix" it.
Just like the book foreshadowed, I felt like I had nothing going for me, and it felt like I was drowning in my disappointment. It’s miserable to feel like life can’t get any worse; to feel lost, lonely, and completely hopeless for your future. The fear of never accomplishing the dreams you had for yourself can be paralyzing.
So, do you want to know what I did?
I tried to fix it myself, of course!
Spoiler alert: that didn’t work (I know, you're shocked)
So then I went to see a counselor. True story!
And then this amazing thing happened…life actually got better!
So, I was where you are. And I get how miserable you are. It’s a shame that so many women out there feel the way they do for so long. Every young woman deserves to have a healthy relationship with herself. Every young woman deserves to confidently set the bar higher (and higher!) for herself. EVERY WOMAN DESERVES TO BE HAPPY!

Now, I'm a licensed mental health counselor (FL MH 12054) who utilizes rational emotive behavior therapy to help my clients meet their goals. I believe the way we think and believe has an impact on how we feel and act. I can and will help you challenge and change those unrealistic and often self-defeating beliefs, allowing you to think, feel, and act in healthier and more productive ways!
I’m also a Certified Life Breakthrough Coach. I’m focused on helping you get unstuck in your current situation and accomplishing things you’ve never dreamed of. Ready to become the best version of yourself?
