About me
I am an experienced counselor who currently works for the government federally at the Veterans Affairs, as Readjustment Counselor, counseling Veterans either as Individuals, Couples, and family members of Veterans in East Moline, IL.
Providing clients with non-judgmental, caring, and compassionate treatment is my passion. Empowerment, validation, and client-centered therapy are what help my clients overcome obstacles they encounter, along with a therapist who believes in being an advocate. My mission is to help clients become the best version of themselves, whatever that may be. Treatment is not a “cookie-cutter” approach and must be tailored and individualized to each person. Each client will have unique challenges.
I am a certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Certified EMDR Therapist, and Certified Trauma Professional. My main focus is working with clients who have experienced trauma in their lives. I also specialize in sobriety, relapse prevention, and overcoming relapse for clients experiencing a range of substance use disorders. During my time working in a primary substance abuse setting I was able to serve clients from diverse backgrounds. I’ve worked with clients from a wide range of socioeconomic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. I completed my training at Aurora University. I hold both a Master’s in Social Work with specialties in Addictions and Healthcare and a Master’s in Business Administration with a specialty in Leadership.
I have a history of mental health and substance use experience through my 20 years in the U.S. Army, where I dealt with many Veterans who were struggling with various mental health issues such as PTSD and substance use disorders, both in and out of service. I have experience with detox and residential inpatient counseling as a Veterans Therapist and Clinical Therapist.
I offer a variety of treatments, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and EMDR. I can customize treatment specifically for you. My specialties are working with clients struggling with substance abuse, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, ADHD, and PTSD/Complex Trauma.
I consider learning about someone’s unique and personal story to be an honor and privilege. I look forward to professionally engaging with each client’s internal world while walking alongside them on their journey.
