About me
I chose to step into a different world by transitioning into a new career with one year of practicum at the Maple Counseling Center and currently at The Mindful Lemon as an integrative psychotherapist pursuing hypnotherapy and EMDR certification. The Mindful Lemon permits me to work in a private therapeutic setting with clients suffering from mental health issues such as depression, dissociative disorders, borderline personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive or prolonged grief disorders.
During my sessions, I acquired an approach to treatments involving specific techniques from different therapeutic orientations best suited for my client’s problems and barriers
My philosophy centers on a great quote from Wayne Dyer “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” I have been motivated to understand the inner workings of the mind, whether in my earlier career or at present, by improving the lives of others and alleviating suffering in a therapeutic environment. I have spent most of my life following this endeavor by either documenting, volunteering, or now, as a mental health professional creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can progress toward treatment goals, personal growth, and, foremost, life-affirming change.
I have an international background, having worked in several countries. In addition, I have had two previous careers, one as a fine artist and the other as a director, writer, and producer of films and television. During my career, I have acquired an integrative approach to treatment by involving specific techniques from different therapeutic orientations best suited for my client’s problems and barriers that prevent them from actualizing their better selves and emotional well-being. I specialize in trauma with a focus on post-traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse disorders, along with approaches employing a broad range of humanistic theories, cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapies, somatic therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy to explore the causes behind the maladaptive beliefs and emotional dysregulation affecting my clients. I have worked with high-risk adolescents, adults, families, couples, and LGBTQ+ clients on their path to coming out of the shadows into the light.
