About me

I am a LCMHCA, EMDRIA-trained EMDR clinician and certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP) with experience counseling children, adolescents, adults and military veterans and families coping with anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma and sexual abuse, ADHD, traumatic brain injury (TBI), complex grief, physical and intellectual disabilities and chronic health conditions. I am also a health and wellness coach and neuro-informed therapist.

I am originally from southeastern NC and attained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I obtained my Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling Associate License after completing my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I passed the National Counselor Exam in June 2023 for licensure purposes. I have traveled to 36 countries and lived abroad twice. Following a 10 year corporate career focusing on organizational process improvement and facilitation, quality auditing as a Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) and 27 years as a military spouse, I am currently employed at Coastal Ridge Health Services under the supervision of a CMHC Supervisor and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHP).

I have experience counseling and working with the military while supporting as a military spouse for 27 years in the Army; counseling children, adolescents and families through 12 years of scouting as a leader and service unit leader; and 14 years of working with the physically, emotionally and intellectually disabled through canine training and therapy work at rest homes, Alzheimer and memory care units, elementary schools and college campuses. My work focus includes cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, solution focused brief therapy, individual and group counseling, ADHD management, abnormal psychology, career counseling, wellness coaching and assessments in counseling to name a few. I see patients at Coastal Ridge Health Services and in private practice, working with veterans, children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I have experience working with multicultural issues supporting diverse members/families of the military at home and overseas, multicultural graduate school intensive studies, and through the diversity of clients I have seen while in practicum and internship. Specialty areas consist of working with victims of trauma, human trafficking, traumatic brain injury, chronic medical conditions and disabilities, third culture kids, caregivers, veterans and the military population using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Reminiscence Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT), EMDR and Mindfulness based therapy. I am EMDRIA-trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

I am currently training and working towards clinical trauma professional certification (CCTP-Level 2) and certified dialectical behavioral training (C-DBT).

I offer Christian and spiritually-informed and secular counseling.

I enjoy hiking, the beach, scuba diving, cooking, gardening and traveling, and spending time with my family, TDI therapy dogs and cats.
