I am an experienced Social Worker who is dedicated to helping individuals cope with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and survival from intimate partner or family violence.
Seeking help is a major step. Pat yourself on the back for doing so! One of my favorite quotes says, "There is no need to suffer in silence and there is no shame in seeking help," (Catherine Zeta Jones). Do not be ashamed if you are looking for help. We all need help at times and I would be honored to provide that for you!
I was born in Mexico but have lived in Indiana for most of my life. Since I was a young child, I knew that I wanted to give back to the community and help people in any way that I could. I also knew how valuable it was to be able to fluently speak Spanish so that I could provide services to Spanish speakers. In 2020, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and I have recently graduated with a Master of Social Work. Despite being a fresh graduate, I have gained an immense amount of experience in social services.
I started out as a Case Manager at a women's shelter assisting individuals that had gone through intimate partner or family violence. As I moved into the practicums in my Masters program, I was able to delve deeper into individual and group counseling. I provided individual counseling to both children and adults. I also observed and facilitated substance use support groups and grief support groups. As aforementioned, I am a fluent Spanish speaker and I had the honor of co-founding and co-facilitating a support group in Spanish for Latina survivors of Domestic Violence. Towards the end of my practicum, I transitioned over to working in higher education where I have provided coaching and will continue to provide counseling to college students. My experience ranges to working with individuals from the age of 4 to the age of 65+, all from varying walks of life.
So, whether you are seeking counseling for your child, are a young adult trying to navigate adulthood, or an adult trying to process the curve balls life has thrown at you, I am happy to help you and meet you where you are at! And remember, "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them." – Maya Angelou
