About me

I am a trauma-focused psychotherapist dedicated to helping people heal from complex trauma, narcissistic abuse, and toxic workplace dynamics — with warmth, honesty, and deep respect for your story.

Healing doesn't happen because someone hands you the right coping skill. It happens in relationship — when you finally feel safe enough to be seen, understood, and met without judgment. That's the kind of space I work to create with every client.
I'm Zoya, Founder and Clinical Director of Healistic Connections, a trauma-focused holistic psychotherapy practice based in Lake Forest, Illinois. I work with adults navigating the aftermath of complex trauma, narcissistic abuse, spiritual wounding, and toxic relationships — whether those relationships were with a parent, a partner, or a workplace. Many of my clients arrive carrying a quiet, persistent question: "Is it me?" Part of our work together is helping you find a truthful, compassionate answer — one that doesn't leave you stuck in blame or in the wound, but moves you toward clarity, self-trust, and real change.
My approach is trauma-informed, relationally grounded, and tailored to you. I am EMDR Certified and trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and I integrate these evidence-based approaches with a holistic lens that honors the whole person — mind, body, spirit, and story. My background includes a Master of Divinity in Chaplaincy and Clinical Counseling, which shapes how I sit with grief, meaning, and the spiritual dimensions of healing for clients who want that woven into their work. For those who don't, our work remains fully grounded in clinical care.
I'm also pursuing a doctorate in Leadership Psychology with a research focus on narcissistic systems and toxic workplace dynamics. If you've been ground down by a boss, a team, or an organizational culture that left you doubting your competence and your reality, I understand that terrain — clinically and deeply.
My style is warm and direct. I will validate your experience, and I will also gently challenge the beliefs trauma taught you about yourself — the shame, the self-blame, the sense that you're "too much" or "not enough." You deserve a therapist who doesn't just witness your pain but walks with you as you build something new.
I offer in-person sessions in Lake Forest and telehealth throughout Illinois. If what you've read here resonates, I'd be honored to connect. Reaching out is often the hardest step — and you don't have to take the ones after it alone.
