About me

Yvette Lopez, LMSW, is a PhD candidate in the clinical expertise concentration track. Her background spans behavioral health, corrections, and community health systems. She has contributed to environmental and public health initiatives, reflecting an interdisciplinary commitment to advancing clinical practice, community well-being, and sustainable health outcomes.
A session in my room balances somatic awareness with practical skill-building. We might start by checking in on your nervous system, using Somatic Exposure principles to slow down and ground your physical anxiety. From there, we pivot to an actionable strategy—whether that is breaking down a CBT thought record, practicing a specific DBT distress tolerance skill, or mapping out a Psychosocial Rehabilitation plan to help you confidently navigate a social, work, or independent living goal in your day-to-day life.

Yvette Lopez, LMSW, is a PhD candidate specializing in clinical expertise, whose professional journey bridges the gap between doctoral-level research and diverse frontline environments. Her academic foundation at Walden University complements an extensive career spanning the University of Texas at Austin Children’s Wellness Center, residential care, and complex behavioral health systems. Through an interdisciplinary clinical lens, she focuses on the intersection of individual psychological healing and systemic barriers, specifically supporting Spanish-speaking families, students, and youth. This multifaceted experience enables her to address the unique needs of underserved communities, ensuring that therapeutic interventions translate into sustainable health outcomes and true, lasting growth.
Our work together is defined by a deeply collaborative and action-oriented structure, ensuring every session remains focused entirely on your specific objectives. To maintain clear clinical boundaries and keep the spotlight on your personal evolution, I prioritize a professional distance regarding my private life. This objective framework allows us to meticulously tailor therapeutic interventions—including CBT, Assertive Community Treatment, DBT distress tolerance, and psychosocial rehabilitation—to the specific nuances of your lived experience.
My professional development extends significantly past my MSSW, as I have actively sought specialized mastery in several clinical domains. I hold credentials as a Qualified Mental Health Professional-Community Services (QMHP-CS) and am currently deepening my academic foundations as a PhD candidate. Furthermore, I have cultivated robust forensic and crisis-intervention capabilities through immersive field experience and rigorous training within Travis County Counseling and Education Services and the Travis County Sheriff's Office correctional system.
I offer only virtual sessions, utilizing a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform to deliver high-quality, confidential clinical care directly to your private environment. To ensure services remain accessible, I accommodate both commercial insurance and self-pay arrangements.  I am an “in-network” provider for Aetna, Cigna, and Curative. For those who are uninsured or utilizing other carriers, the standard self-pay rate is $150 per session. Consistent with my commitment to reducing systemic barriers, I maintain a limited number of sliding scale slots for individuals with demonstrated financial need. Out-of-network clients can receive an automated monthly Superbill to facilitate potential reimbursement from their insurance carriers.
