About me

I specialize in addictive and compulsive behavior, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, and couples counseling. I am a veteran psychotherapist and also a university professor, author, and organizational consultant. Licensed in 1977, I have exceptional training and experience, and my lifelong mission is facilitating growth and positive change in others. I currently have over 90,000 hours of experience as a therapist.

I am a psychologist and organizational consultant. I am a former 12th grade United States history teacher, and a retired United States Air Force lieutenant colonel. My training and education have never stopped. I have a doctorate from the University of Tennessee, an MBA from Pepperdine University, and an MPH (Master’s in Public Health) from Loma Linda University. I also have a master’s degree in education, and a doctorate in health services administration. I have worked for over 45 years in the treatment of addictions, and eating disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa, and Bulimia. Additionally, I specialize in treating stress and anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder. More than half of my work is in couples counseling.
I hold licenses in both psychology and marriage and family therapy. I've been a university professor since 1974 in both a psychology graduate program and an MBA program.
I am passionate about helping others grow and make positive changes in their lives. I provide substantial out of session materials and growth producing exercises. I particularly enjoy working with couples and working in collaboration with my wife Robin, also a therapist.
