About Dr. Bates
Wendy Bates, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist who specializes in the treatment of individuals with relationship problems. She provides Individual, Couples and Group Psychotherapy to adults and adolescents. Dr. Bates is eager to apply her experience and compassion with clients as they begin to address issues that will help them improve their quality of life and attain a sense of fulfillment.
Dr. Bates considers the study of human development, the mind and human interactions as her passion. She is well versed in a variety of treatment approaches and has a diverse clinical background. Her theoretical frame of reference is psychodynamic; however, she uses a variety of other treatment approaches in order to meet the specific needs of her clients. Dr. Bates believes that people are complex and often unaware of the many forces that drive or limit them. Her work goes beyond the targeting of certain symptoms and instead aims to help people find meaning and purpose in their lives, unlock creative potential, and strengthen their relationship to themselves and others. Dr. Bates considers therapy a mutual contract between therapist and client aimed toward the goal of alleviating the client’s suffering and helping them to live more realistic and satisfying lives.
Dr. Bates holds a bachelor's degree in psychology, a master's degree in clinical psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. As the founder and owner of Dallas Therapy Associates, PLLC she enjoys surrounding herself with qualified providers, unique individuals, and good humans and highly recommends each of the clinicians contracted with DTA.
Dr. Bates enjoys working with a wide variety of issues and finds her work focuses heavily on the therapeutic relationship and thus lends itself to individualized treatment for each of her patients.
