About me
I have been practising for over 30 years, both as a professor at Georgetown, medical school and University of Illinois as well as a private practice for many years. My orientation is cognitive behavioral, short term , clearly defined coping strategies. I work with adults, children, and adolescence, and include the parents when possible in the treatment planning and implementation. I specialize in helping my clients regulate their emotions and to learn and to employ problem-solving and new behavioural strategies to solve life issues. Quite often, I see patients for 6 to 8 visits as a beginning and then as needed in follow up. I have written two graduate textbooks and three self-help books on regulating anger and conflict as well as other emotions. I believe in having a clear plan so that at all times we can decide if we’ve achieve goals and whether therapy should continue. Since Covid, I have been having sessions online via Zoom for professionals, and this has worked out very well .
I am known for band clear and direct in working with my clients. I believe my ability to listen empathically and to craft clearly defined, collaborative treatment objectives has been honed over many years of practice and working in various settings. I guess you could say my goal is always to achieve measurable progress in line with the patient’s clearly stated objectives.
