About me
An important aspect of therapy is the opportunity to explore feelings of loneliness, anxiety, depression, grief, and shame, and to begin the process of creating positive and lasting changes. This takes place in a non-judgmental, therapeutic relationship based on empathy, trust, safety, and compassion. My style is calm, warm, and relaxed, and I believe in creating a safe environment for you in which compassion, support, and humor can flourish. Together, we can gain insight and understanding of the relationships between emotions, core beliefs and behaviors in order to find solutions to the problems you are facing.
There are many reasons why people seek psychotherapy. They may wish to resolve a problem caused by difficult circumstances; they may wish to relieve feelings of general unhappiness and anxiety; they may also wish to make a change, to become less stuck, less depressed, and more hopeful. Reaching out and asking for help is the first important step. This gives substance to our desire for change and concretizes our desire for wellbeing. By asking, we indicate that we feel entitled to support and consideration.
Life doesn't always go as planned, and transitions, illness, and trauma are rarely anticipated. Are you struggling with self-defeating patterns that are causing depression, anxiety, and /or a feeling of being stuck? Do you want to make changes in your personal and professional life? Do you have challenges in your relationship? Individuals have unique and individual needs, which should be recognized. Most of the time, you will be able to handle the situation with the help of your friends and family or on your own.
I am experienced in treating a wide range of mental health issues and focus my practice on managing anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, relational conflict, mood disorders and impulsive behavior. As a therapist, my goal is to empower individuals, couples, and families. Rather than pathologizing emotion, I assist clients in embracing emotion mindfully in order to change behaviors and create a life that is full of valued experiences and relationships. It requires a lot of strength and courage to ask for help. Starting therapy can be overwhelming, however, you already taken the first step. Our primary goal in our sessions will always be to empower you. I look forward to hearing from you.
