About me
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in South Carolina and Texas with over 20 years' experience. I help people who are struggling with anxiety, traumatic memories, marriage and family issues, and depression. I provide a confidential, compassionate and supportive space for you to share your concerns, without fear of judgment. We will work together as equal partners in this process. I am not one who “has it all together,” but I believe that together we can find some strategies to help you navigate your challenges more successfully.
I find great satisfaction and joy in helping my clients discover new and more effective ways of navigating the challenges they face. I use sound counseling approaches (such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and EMDR) to grow toward the quality of life they desire. I am also a Certified Enneagram Coach and find the Enneagram is very helpful in helping clients' ability to identify habitual patterns that are not serving them well.utilize a variety of strategies as adjuncts to therapy (including expressive arts, mindfulness, and faith-based counseling), tailored to the needs and desires of my clients, I also encourage them to accelerate their progress by providing worksheets and other tools for practice, or recommending other resources to assist them between sessions. My style is warm, non-judgmental, supportive and solution-focused.
Having had 27 years in public education, I am very comfortable working with children and teenagers, as well as adults. I have worked with a variety of ages and issues, and can usually connect and communicate with clients from 5 to 85. My interests are faith/spirituality, music, & the Enneagram.
As a Certified Enneagram Coach, I frequently incorporate the wisdom of the Enneagram in my work with others. This powerful tool teaches us to better understand and have compassion for ourselves and others, and guides us toward loosening our habitual ways of responding to situations and people that keep us stuck and learning more effective ways of thinking, feeling, and acting. It is so helpful for personal growth and transformation, helping us grow into the healthiest version of ourselves and improving the quality of our interactions with others. I've found the Enneagram to be life-changing for me personally and professionally. Whether you are struggling with issues related to the past, the present, or the future, learning to tune-in to your body, thoughts, and feelings and skillfully balance these aspects of yourself can truly be transformative.
I am able to see clients in my office in Little River, South Carolina, or meet with them virtually. For clients based in Texas, I also offer virtual sessions. I am able to take some insurances in both states, and am working on becoming a provider for other insurance plans (including BCBS, Medicaid and Medicare eventually). Self-paying clients are always available option.
