About me
I am an experienced individual and sex informed couples therapist. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience across the helping professions. I am passionate about helping Individuals and couples struggling with diverse mental health symptoms such as anxiety, depression, phobia, panic-disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorders, stress, conflict in relationships and trauma problems.
Hi, I'm Veronica and I specialize in guiding clients through a holistic approach to Counseling that integrates various elements from the healing professions, such as psychotherapy, spiritual direction, coaching, and nutritional psychoeducation (not to be confused with being a nutritionist-I am not). I am a seasoned psychotherapist, coach, and mindful faith-based teacher. My work is deeply influenced by an understanding that humans are extremely resilient and most of us will grow through the difficult experiences that life throws at us.
With over 20 years of experience in direct service to individuals, couples, families and groups, I am now exclusively dedicated to spiritual and emotional healing and sharing insights (when appropriate) from my own direct experiences. I collaborate with you to develop a treatment plan specific to your psychological, physical and spiritual needs. You are a complicated and wonderful human and I work with you to empathize, educate and empower you to reach your full potential.
Some clients lovingly refer to me as the “tough-love therapist". I think that is accurate, because breaking free from symptoms can be harder than expect. With empathy, education and empowerment I balance my faith based principles with critical and psychological exploration. An ambivert, former missionary, para-legal, teacher and human resource manager, advocate and self-proclaimed pseudo-researcher, I am passionate about provided excellent counseling via telehealth. In 2024, I began my online private-practice, but I am not a novice to online work. In 2010, my then company assisted us in working from home, and due to chronic health issues, I found that working from home was a way to help me manage work-life balance. I have been working in telehealth since 2020 and I maintain an ethical and effective practice to facilitate exceptional care. Alongside this, I am a Life-Coach and provide services as an adjunct to Counseling. I am passionate about working with all people, but specifically those in the helping professions especially, parents, police-officers, pastors, military, veterans, teachers, lawyers, doctors, nurses and firefighters.
Beyond my professional identity, I am a naturalized American Citizen, a Caribbean immigrant with a passion for multicultural experiences. I am a person with diverse cultural and ethnic heritage that allows me a diverse perspective. I have lived in New Jersey for over 20 years and consider myself a New Jerseyan with Caribbean flava. I am a devoted wife, cat mother, a friend, daughter, and sister . My surroundings reflect my love for beautiful things that express my heart. I enjoy exploring cultures, beliefs, reading, writing, poetry, good food, and going to church. I love singing, although I do so exclusively in private and I love to laugh. I enjoy historic experiences and traveling. I incorporate essential oil psychoeducation and many other interventions into my counseling practice to empower you to live your best life.
Referrals
At times, it may become necessary to refer you for medication, supplement, nutritional or a higher level of care. When this happens, I strive to provide a referral to someone within my network of colleagues which include psychiatrists, counselors and faith based leaders in order to provide you with the best-care. I am passionate about building relationships with colleagues who will provide you with quality care.
My Mission
As part of my mission in life, I strive to empower individuals to face the scary stuff and break free from negative patterns . My counseling style is warm, authentic and direct. This includes a thorough holistic assessment over time that will include a body-mind-spirit approach through formal and informal assessments and evaluations. These assessments help you begin the process of awareness.
If you’re curious about my style of working and unsure about the best fit for your needs, feel free to reach out. I offer a free 15 minute consultation. I am out of network with all insurances and I would ask that you call your insurance company to find out whether you have out of network options. Find out how much of my fee they cover. I provide you with an invoice that can be used to claim out of network benefits. If you don't have out of network benefits, I provide you with an invoice for FSA, HSA providers and I offer a fair rate, and discounted rate to members of the military.
